Happy Chinese New Year!

This Year of the Pig marks another auspicious moment and celebration of the ancient and elaborate Lunar calendar. A year in which we wish each other the best in health, lots of success and happiness in every endeavour, and delight with delicious food and drink.

Growing up in the Far East, this was a celebration like no other across all cultures. From the lion dance to firecrackers in the market streets, to lantern lined decorations across shopfronts, to mass congregations at our Chinese friends homes. The greeting exchange with an ‘am-pau’ – the red envelope was more symbolic of endearing love for one another as supposed to the monetary value contained within it.

Chefs Paul and Jay of our very own Byron’s Brasserie fame, have sprinkled five spice in their latest stir fry, candidly caught on camera below. Manchurian Chicken is one of Chef Paul’s specialities which is a dish of exceptional taste luring all who try it to yearn for more. Served with special fried rice, this dish has a dual tone combining an Indo-Chinese flavour that is particularly reverberant in South East Asia.

Whilst our mainstay at Colwick Hall is modern British cuisine and the very traditional afternoon tea, the team is hugely versatile and is always willing to try something new and to extend what is on offer. Wishing all our friends Gong Xi Fat Cai !!
