Nearly £10,000 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support!

Friday 28th September 2018 saw Colwick Hall host our second annual Macmillan charity ball. A huge success attracting over 250 guests dressed in their ‘Bond’ inspired fineries.

Recently we were delighted to present another cheque, this time for £4378 to the charity. Stacey Smalley, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Nottinghamshire, was present at the hall to receive the news of the fantastic support of clients, suppliers and the entire team to raise these funds for a most worthy cause. Stacey also highlighted the enormous value in these contributions, much of which will be earmarked for Macmillan services in the Nottinghamshire region. A real case of local support leading to local benefit.

For the last 3 years, Colwick Hall have forged a strong partnership with Macmillan, raising proceeds from an afternoon tea coffee morning, to our first ‘Masquerade for Macmillan’ ball in 2017, and most recently the ‘Martinis for Macmillan’ ball in 2018. To date we have raised just shy of £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This has been a truly fantastic achievement under the leadership of Naomi Tupoulahi, Sales & Marketing Director, and the entire team.

Naomi said:
“We are truly proud of our achievements over the last couple of years and can’t wait to continue our fundraising journey. We can’t tell you how rewarding it is to know that we are giving something back to such a worthy cause”.

The Executive Director, Selva Muthalagappan, was delighted to deliver the cheque to Stacey Smalley of Macmillan Nottinghamshire and suggested that it was “a wonderful contribution to the community and that Macmillan was an enormously worthy cause for the team at Colwick Hall”.

Martinis for Macmillan 2018 included a three course ‘Bond inspired’ menu with a martini – shaken not stirred – on arrival, and wine with the meal. Tables of 10 were beautifully decorated with giant martini and lime centerpieces and the entire Lakeside Pavilion was dressed in glittering style. The evening was hosted by the hugely affable ‘Iain chambers’ of both Notts TV and Gem Radio fame. Entertainment included band ‘Mansfield Avenue’, DJ ‘Matthew Foote’, magician ‘Matthew Ramsell’, ‘Mirra Mirra’ photobooth, a chocolate fountain, sweetie cart and fireworks from ‘First Galaxy’.

Funds for the charity were also generated from a silent auction hosted by ‘Blue Monday’ and a bond themed raffle too. Colwick Hall have been overwhelmed by the support evidenced by the long list below of sponsors for the evening:

Dona Kent, a client from the most recent ball said:
“Can I just say thanks so much for such a good night – when you hold a similar event can you please let me know as I and my friends would love to join you again!”

A special thanks has to be given to HSBC’s Andrea Dowd (pictured right with Naomi Tupoulahi), also an attendee of the event and a regular client of ours for both her 50th birthday celebrations and wedding day. Andrea was a huge part of helping to raise funds and making sure all ran smoothly on the night. A lady who has gone above and beyond for the event, and someone who we have forged a close relationship with and cannot thank enough!

With such a fantastic turnout and many loyal diners, we are no doubt continuing in 2019 with our themed annual ball, so save the date for #MadnessForMacmillan! – Friday 27th September 2019.
